Nivethan is a not for profit organisation established on March 10, 2006 at Madurai in Tamil Nadu state of South India. Nivethan is incorporated as a Trust (Reg No: 53/2006) under Indian Public Trust Act (1882). It was initiated to create differences in the lives of poor and the vulnerable especially the women, children and the old aged. We strive to ensure basic rights and sustainable development of the target population living across rural and urban areas in India.

The objectives are to undertake all such activities pertaining to all round development of poor communities with the aim of empowering and enabling them to attain self reliance around the theme of health care, education, water & sanitation, children, empowerment of women, youth affairs & old aged. Some of the specific objectives with which the Trust operates are

  • To carry out projects and programmes which aims at alleviating poverty existing in the rural and urban areas
  • To provide scholarship, uniforms and materials to poor children living in rural areas and urban slums
  • To create awareness among general public, school and college students to make them involve in actions against poverty
  • To conduct health camps and other awareness camps on various issues faced by the society in a large
  • To carry out welfare activities for the old aged living in urban areas
  • To create Self-Employment opportunities by providing skill development training to unemployed youth
